    Fascinating. It's the same dress.

I'll be damned. Now that you posted this picture and go back to the one posted by HFN I cannot see white and gold anymore, but only blue and black. I feel so conflicted right now.

No. For the blue and black folks, how close is this to the colors you see in the disputed image?

This discussion was already annoying by 10pm last night. However, the worst thing to come from this is that "what color is this" is now going to become a thing on the internet. Like we should all be shocked that things of one color appear differently in different lighting and with adjusted saturation. How long before the next "what color is this" thing starts circulating?

I don't know, for me the strange thing is how different the colors are. My mind went from clearly white and gold to clearly blue and black. I can see the white and blue change, since there was already a blue tone to the white, but to go from gold to straight black is just bizarre.

Agreed. Typically I am confused by the sex that tends to occupy dresses, now I am just confused by a dress.

And the difference is so stark I can't even see how I thought it was once white and gold.

this, except there's a fair amount of mustard in that gold.

I'm utterly confused how anyone sees white and gold. I almost feel like all the white and gold people are in on some massive Jedi mind trick joke. The dress is obviously blue, the stripe color can be debated.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

its called color constancy. It has to do with how your brain interprets color from the surroundings. in the up close picture the white and gold people have brains that assume natural light. The black and blue people have brains that interpreted it as being in unnatural light.

What about those of us in between? I saw light blue/dark gold.
