  • Scarf it down........

Are scarves an acceptable accessory for a heterosexual male?

    I say absolutely not.

I am wavering whether or not they are acceptable even when used for their original function of keeping one warm. If they are accompanied by goggles at a ski resort, I am alright with that.

Posters on this board that definitely where them as accessories:

    Commando
    Old Gregg

I would also say D-hole if he lived in a different climate.

(In no way is this a dig at the above posters sexual preference, it is however a dig at the hipster styles they implore)

I occasionally wear a scarf. It can get pretty cold here and a scarf can provide a lot of the extra warmth. In all the years I've been wearing a scarf not once have I wanted to be be with another man. Go figure.

Yes they do, that is why they own several.

When walking to and from work in downtown Chicago in a suit in the middle of winter you wear a scarf and could not give a shit that you might look gay. The wind tunnels between buildings coming off the lake is brutal.

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

You don't need a scarf in Utah or any place where you're not going to be doing a lot if walking during the winter. But I absolutely needed one on my mission and when I lived in NYC and was simply wearing a suit.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Why wear a scarf when an ascot will do just fine.

Like, you haven't thought about a relationship, but have thought about a casual hook up?

I disagree re: wearing a scarf on the ski hill. It is unpractical and less effective than a lot of other options.

As for wearing one while walking around a cold windy place like Chicago, I could see the need. The one time I've been to that town in the winter was for a week-long deposition in December and I had to walk about 3 blocks from my hotel to the law office where depositions were being held. I was only wearing my suit and was dragging several carts of documents behind me (each morning at about 7am and each night at about 8pm). I was cold and would've worn a bright pink scarf had I thought ahead to bring one.

It sucks that in all of Chicago there isn't a place to purchase a coat or scarf that would have kept you warm.
