  • Black Friday 2013

I'll premise this post and thread with the fact that I refuse to stand in line before a store opens. Now, I don't mind up getting up early, going shopping and fighting the crowds -- I just won't be one of those losers who stand in line all night for a free IKEA chair.

That said, Target has a deal on the iPad Air. First it's $479, which is only a discount of about $21 from the regular price. But you also get a $100 Target gift card with the purchase.

So I'm wondering if Target will actually have a decent supply of iPads or if they're simply just going to have two in stock.

Wal Mart is selling the iPad mini for the regular price but throwing in a $100 gift card -- so basically $200. But the old iPad mini is just a mini iPad 2 which is almost a three year old tablet. On top of that, Wal Mart guarantees they'll have it in stock or you'll get a voucher for the purchase.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

More and more Negro Viernes stuff is starting on Thanksgiving Evening, so staying up all night for the store to open in the morning is gradually becoming a thing of the past.
    Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

In a few more years I'm sure these stores are going be starting the sales at 3-4 am on Thanksgiving morning.

I really wish Target dropped the gauntlet like Wal Mart and guaranteed everyone could get one of the sale items as long as it was purchased within a certain period of time. That's a nice deal on the iPad Air.

That would kill many a Turkey Bowl

Eff black friday. I'm not disrupting my holiday to scurry around for cheddar like a starving rat. I'll forego that cumulative $100 savings and enjoy my life, thanks.

Two years ago, we hit up the outlets at I kid you not, like 4 in the morning. They were absolutely empty, which was really nice. We got a lot done, especially since we didn't have kids following us around, trying to hide what we were buying from them. Normally a trip to the outlets is a 3 to 4 hour ordeal. We hit up all the stores we wanted to in less than 2 hours, and I was able to cross off a lot of my list.

Having said that, I'm not sure it was worth the time that I was up early. I don't do crowds, so from that perspective it was nice. The downside is my wife is thinking that she wants to do it again. I'm not sure that I want to miss my sleep again... however, I'm definitely sure that I don't want my wife out that early driving alone.

I never do this. I value sleep too much. I don't want to shop on Thanksgiving at 9pm. I don't want to get up at the asscrack of dawn.

We've already bought everything for our kids for Christmas. We just have a few family things to get for who we drew names this year and to shop for each other.

we did pretty well this year, with the intent of selling most of the stuff on ksl:

-3 x wal-mart 60" vizio @ $688 (one hour guarantee, they'll ship to store in the next couple of weeks)
                      -1 x funai 32" @ $98
                      -2 x nintendo 3ds xl @ $149
                      -2 x ipad mini w/$100 walmart GC @ $299
                      -1 x beats solo hd @ $119
                      -2 x xbox 360 camouflage controller @ $39 (i'll probably return these since they're not actually a good deal)
                      -1 x COD ghosts on ps3 @ $39
                      -1 x battlefield 4 on ps3 @ $25

Funai TVs demand a premium on KSL.

You may be able to sell those iPad minis for $275, though I'm not sure why anyone would spend over $200 for a device that basically came out 33 months ago with a different screen size. Either pony up for the ipad mini with retina or get the Nexus 7.
