    The Insultapology Thread

I am officially coining a new term: "insultapology". You ever notice how some people deliver an apology but just can't quite resist the urge to include one final kick to the nuts as part of the delivery? Portland Ute treated us to a textbook example of this phenomenon today:

I think cj is, by far, the most aggressive and acerbic poster on this site, but I apologize, cj, for calling you an assface and I apologize to everyone for my part in this think escalating on this site.
    Well done, PU. Well done.

Feel free to post your own examples.

I used to say to my wife, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. I didn't realize you were so sensitive."

I want to apologize to JL for once claiming one of his earlier threads was the stupidest new thread ever because this one is.

Not bad, but it lacks any pretense of sincerity.

            A classic, to be sure.

My dad's famous for. I don't think I did that, but perception is reality, so I'm sorry.

Come on, you two have got to have 45 min on Friday in which the two of you could hit the your favorite eatery and hash this out (JL/Indy).

I'm sure one or more of you stalkers will crash one of my events, so I'll just patiently wait for that wonderful moment.

Is that what you and Dick are calling your little rendezvous now?

As noted below, what one of my attendings would say when we made a mistake and said, "Sorry."

"Don't apologize. It's not your fault. It's my fault for overestimating your competence."
"You interns are like swallows. You shit all over my patients for six weeks and then fly off."

"Don't be sorry, it's not your fault. It's my fault for overestimating your competence."

When I was at BYU I ran into a friend at the Brick Oven. He was sitting next to a hot girl and I approached their table. He introduced the girl as Carol. I said, "Oh, I remember you telling me about her." He looks at her and then back at me and says, "Yeah, but she's lost a lot of weight since then."
