Reading the write ups of the press conferences so far it looks like Sony kicked Microsoft's collective asses. XBone will debut at $499. They still have some explaining to do with how their DRM will work. And with the NSA spying programs in the news I wonder how many people want a camera and microphone looking and listening to them in their living room. Microsoft claimed after there XB1 reveal that was light on games that they had E3 around the corner to highlight games. Did they deliver? Xbox live Gold will feature PS+ like features by offering 2 free games per month. They really pushed smartglass again as well as a few Windows8 shout outs. They did show 15 or so games (some of which are "exclusive" whether timed, console or all platform exclusive remains to be seen). Will it be enough to overcome all the bad press in the wake of their console reveal last month?
Meanwhile PS4 will be sold for $399. Parts of their presser were indirectly or straight up mocking Microsoft for all their stumbles the past few weeks. No online checks for single player games. No trade-in or lending restrictions on disc based games. Multiplayer online play will be rolled into PS+ subscription service however net based media won't be behind the pay wall. Sony continued their focus on games from their console reveal showcasing a slew of AAA as well as indie games. It looks like PS4 will be the place to be for consoles on indie titles. All in all a surprisingly strong press conference.
