Anything that purports that the BoM was a product of 19th century theology and literature..."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

You spell that word with a "d"

Then the appeal:

The pen's mightier than the sword? I guess next time I'll have to suggest an additional letter in response to a 500 word post to make you sweat a little more to figure out what addition or substitution to make in order to ban me.
I'm sure that the infinite permutations available will result in an inevitable suspension for an even greater duration of time.
P.S. You spell that with an "i".

(Sorry, but until some time late next week, this is my only avenue to responding to stupidity I see over on CB.)

And again, the CB support for homophobia rises. Because some dean probably not involved in Pernetti's firing was already on a campaign against Pernetti because of diversity issues, and because she specifically spoke out against his use of homophobic slurs, that was the "last straw" for his firing.
Why the need to denigrate "homophobia" in that post? That was really a small part of what Rice did, and I can't imagine it truly played a huge part in the dismissal - the conduct overall was so bad that I don't see how Pernetti justfied not firing Rice on the spot. In essence, the person who should have stopped the behavior allowed it to continue, and allowed an abuser to continue to abuse student athletes.
I just don't see the need by Boise Blue to turn this into an opportunity to downplay homophobia.
And another thing. I've called people out for being homophobic before (and I think I was justified in doing so). The response is often along the lines of, "I'm not afraid of gay people." "Homophobia" is not just (although I suppose it can be) the "fear" of homosexuals. Here's the dictionary.com definition: "unreasoning fear of or antipathy toward homosexuals and homosexuality." It's the "antipathy" part that people seem to forget. If I call you homophobic, I don't really believe you're ascared of the gays. I think you're showing unreasonble disdain, scorn, antipathy - one or more of those similar emotions.
Bernetti's dismissal was because he allowed physical, verbal, and emotional abuse of Rutgers basketball players to continue. It was not because of some PC-driven coddling of homosexuals as Boise Blue seems to insinuate. His homophobia is showing by the mere fact that he felt the need to bring it up.If we disagree on something, it's because you're wrong.
