Has anyone tried this? I have heard several ads on the radio and decided to give it a shot.

They give you 3 options $1, $6 or $9 per month. They send you the first handle for free and you can decide between a single blade (looks to be bic quality razor) for $1 per month, a 4 blade higher quality cartridge (looks to be mach 3 equivalent) for $6, or the mega 6 blade system for $9 a month. Each package comes with free shipping and 4 cartridges per month. You can also get with the "not so hairy" plan and they will send you 4 cartridges every other month and bill you accordingly.

It seems like a great deal but I am not sure of the quality of equipment. You can cancel at anytime so I decided to sign up and see how I like it. My first blades arrive on April 18th.

I've been considering this for a while, but just haven't gotten around to it. I'll be interested to see what you say about the quality of the blades/razors.

I swear that every radio show I listen to seems to have dollar shave club as their main sponsor for the last 2 months. I'll be curious to hear how you like them.

Their handle must suck, since much of their advertising is about how you don't need a nice handle.

I've been a subscriber of the $6 level for a couple of months now and love it. I have a thick beard so quality razors is a requirement.

I spend less than that on shaving stuff. A pack of 100 DE razors is $10.00. Even after buying a safety razor and a brush, it ends up being less than the dollar shave club. Not to mention, I get a much better shave with a lot less irritation.

Yes, even changing the blade every other day, I'm less than $0.10 a day

I wonder how good the blades are.

The Gillette blades are a total ripoff. Schick is less of a ripoff, but the Hydros are crap, but I do like the Quattro. Albertsons was clearing out boxes of 8 Quattro cartridges for $9, so I bought a couple boxes. Usually those things go for around $10 for a box of four.

I used the Sensor in high school and on the mish. I then switched between the Sensor and Mach 3 in college.

Since getting married, I've used all kinds of different blades from Schick and Gillette. My wife finds them for cheap and buys them, so I've tried the Fusion, Hydro and Quattro and bought the three-bladed Sensor on my own. If I were to rate them, it would be as follows:

                    1. Quattro -- this is my favorite. The lubrication strip lasts and it gives you a closer shave than the Mach 3, Hydro and Fusion.

                    2. Three-bladed Sensor -- I remember someone telling me they read something about these blades being sharper than the Mach 3 back when the Mach 3 came out. For those that came of age in the 90s, the Sensor was THE razor that everyone had. The three-bladed Sensor is an improvement on the old Sensor, but it doesn't provide the same comfort as all of the other blades except for the piece of shit Hydro. Still, you can put on that alcohol-free Nivea aftershave lotion afterwards.

                    3. Fusion -- This thing is comfortable and it shaves pretty well but the lubrication strip wears out too fast. I find its performance pretty mediocre after about 3 shaves.

                    4. Mach 3 -- I hated this damn razor when it came out and I don't know why I used it off an on, probably because it was more comfortable than the twin-bladed Sensor. But the blades were dull and it didn't do a very good job.

                    5. Hydro -- The lubricant stored at the top of the razor is distributed unevenly. There's too much when you first start using it and then it's uneven thereafter. It sucks.

                    100. 100 blades for your safety razor. Who wants to spend 20 minutes every day shaving their face? I do a good enough job in about 2-3 minutes. My dad had one of these along with some blades sitting in a drawer that went untouched in the 15 years I lived in my house growing up, and I think he bought them at some point in the 70s when the safety razor was the only decent option -- so my dad stopped using them, and my two brothers and I all went through puberty in that house and none of us ever got around to using them.

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I was a Fusion guy for a long time (my wife would give me 12-pack of blades in my stocking and I'd make them last a year--i try not to shave more than twice a week) but I got sick of spending that much on razors. A few years back I started buying the disposable 3-bladed Sensor at Walmart, and I've been with these ever since. You can get a 4-pack for about $7 if you keep an eye out, and i can usually make a razor last a month (8-10 shaves for me).

You're lucky you only have to shave 8-10 times a month. I shave around 6 times a week, I skip either Saturday or Sunday, sometimes both. I can make a Quattro cartridge easily last two weeks and I probably don't change it for three weeks, but I figure I get around 15 uses out of one cartridge. Quite honestly, I lose track. Anyway, the Albertsons clearance was pretty nice. I got 16 cartridges for around $18, so I figure that's around 48 weeks for me.

Those Sensor 3 disposables are the ones I buy, though I don't use them during the Winter when my skin dries out more. They're good for the warmer months. They don't last as long as the Quattros, but I think they give you get a closer shave. All of the cartridges at regular price are a ripoff compared to those Sensor 3 disposables.

I've become a fan of the Venus. For shaving my head I often shave against the grain and I've found that the ladies razors are often better at that.

I joined almost a year ago. I hated the $1 razor, so I ended up getting the most expensive ones they had. I have liked those pretty much. I probably still prefer my Gillete proglide over it, but it is fine.
