Has that phrase ever been written or uttered before?

Interesting maps in this article about the prevalence of "swears", (as you Utah folks call them) and replacement words across the country. I am sure it will shock everyone to learn that Utahns say "crap" and "gosh" more than average, "damn" and "hell" less than average.

Sample map below, for the word "gosh". Orange means more gosh, blue means less. (and yes, you can still see the "Black Belt" caused by that 100 million year old coastline in this map. I look for it in every map I see now).

Maybe the c-word is like the n-word, the rules are a lot more relaxed if you're a club member.
Same. I'm pretty calloused as well...after all, I live in the shit belt and the original f word is very popular here according to the article. But those two I mentioned still get me.

When it comes to Facebook connections it is like mormons are in their own little island bubble...

    Mormonia

The only region that’s completely surrounded by another cluster, Mormonia mostly consists of Utah towns that are highly connected to each other, with an offshoot in Eastern Idaho. It’s worth separating from the rest of the West because of how interwoven the communities are, and how relatively unlikely they are to have friends outside the region.

It won’t be any surprise to see that LDS-related pages like Thomas
    S. Monson, Gordon
    B. Hinckley and The Book of Mormon are at the top of the charts. I didn’t expect to see Twilight showing up quite so much though, I have no idea what to make of that! Glenn Beck makes it into the top spot for Eastern Idaho.

However, if you ask Daniel Peterson, that is a good thing...

In his book “A Conflict of Visions,” the economist and social philosopher Thomas Sowell considers how particular political opinions are impacted by our overall worldviews. So, too, in religious issues. But our circles of friends, our social networks and our desire for their approval also impact our judgments: Fellowship with those of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints tends to nurture and preserve faith. On the other hand, close association with critics and cynics, in person or online, will, over time, likely weaken faith and may even destroy it.
