No way in hell that map is from the 1400's.

If it was, China would have landed in California long ago, and people would be speaking Chinese there.

California's one of the things that makes me suspicious. The map looks curiously like what westerners in the 1700s thought the world looked like-- especially the bit about California being an island.

I thought this was an interesting read:

No big surprises in this one, but it's kind of interesting. Leading denominations by county in the USA. Different Protestant denominations are counted separately, so a lot of counties show up as "Catholic" when they are probably outnumbered by combined Protestants. Counties with a dot are ones where the leading denomination holds a majority, rather than a plurality. Interestingly, it appears that out of the 80 counties where Mormons are the leading denomination, they are the majority in 36 of them, which is quite a bit higher percentage than other denominations. I guess that is what happens when you have a "gathering" mentality for 100 years.

Baptists and Lutherans show up where expected, as well as the real heavy Catholic areas. I don't know if there are stories around the Methodist pockets, or if those counties are just quite fragmented and Methodists happen to pull ahead in a few of them.

While not exactly a map, I felt like this was the place for this item. World history from 1931

                    That is cool, wuap.

That would be a very challenging map to put together. Cool stuff.

The world map, if each state/country were proportionately sized with its LDS population.

Yeah, Mongolia once sat on the doorstep of Western Europe, threatening the Western World. Now it is probably no more than a manila folder over at CIA.

The relative size of The Phillippines is interesting.

Utah isn't as "wild" as people once thought. At least according to pornhub.
