    Mother's Day gifts

So, every year, every holiday danimal and I go through the same routine. He says, "What do you want?" I say, "I don't know, how much are you planning on spending?" He throws out some arbitrary amount and then I never end up giving him any good ideas because I can't figure out something I really want. I always like clothes, but I am quite picky and it's an impossible task for him. Gift certificates are out too. The last couple of Banana Republic giftcards I received ended up going for kids clothes at Old Navy--nothing for me.

The problem is that all my wants end up in one of the three categories and none of them fall into things that he could buy for me for a special occasion.

    I have the impossible wants:
    rock hard abs
    more time in my day

    The too-expensive wants:
    A remodeled kitchen
A trip to Asia without kids

And the really, these are gifts for the whole family and we're going to eventually get them anyway wants:
    A new grill
    A trampoline

This Mother's Day, danimal threw out $50. What do I want for Mother's Day that would be around $50? I have no clue. So far I have come up with new perfume. He wants more things to choose from. So, help me create my list. What could he get me? I would like kitchen gadgets, but I can't think of any in particular. I like music, but feel too out of the loop to be able to suggest an album or a band. Any other ideas?
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

You want those of us with a Y chromosome to suggest gift ideas?

Why not? I mentioned music and kitchen gadgets. I am sure there are plenty here who know of some things in those areas. Also, maybe some of you can share what you're getting your wife. That could give me some ideas.

I am getting the wife a LCD keychain and going to load it with 20 pictures (I have asked my daughters to bring me 10 of their favorite pictures of them with mom from their scrapbook.)

It will kill her, and well under 50.

My wife saw that BestBuy commercial and liked the idea too.

I was going to point out that you can get a fairly decent hand job for $50.00 (or so I've been told.) But then I realized that the subject matter wasn't appropriate in mixed company so I refrained.

              And Sunday comes afterwards

marsupial doesn't strike me as the manicure/pedicure type.

                  That's why I didn't mention it.

I don't know about the pedicure. Last time I checked a foot job was more than $50.

If you really have no idea what you want, why not save the money and just go out to a really nice date night sometime instead of buying something simply for the sake of buying it? Or another extreme idea.....why do you need a gift at all?

I like your date night idea for marsupial. I was going to suggest something similar.

Personally, I prefer Aristides not get me gifts on Mother's Day. I must be weird. Not a fan of Valentine's Day, and not a fan of Mother's Day. I don't mind the cute kid cards, songs, their cute attempts at breakfast in bed, etc., but I don't really like much beyond that.

This is how we are. I don't care about presents very much. I like getting them for the kids on b-day and Christmas, but that is about it. My wife specifically said to not bother with a gift this week. I volunteered to take care of all cooking this weekend and my wife is taking 5 or so hours on Saturday to go run her own errands and whatever she wants. I think she wants that much more than a CD or a book.

I would definitely go for a slanket ,if my gift's destiny rests at 50.

I don't need a gift. I never need a gift. I'd be happy with dinner, a massage, and some handmade cards from the kids, but danimal would like me to have something to unwrap as well. He says he feels like a jerk when he doesn't get me anything. You guys all seem into gadgety fun things so I thought maybe you'd have some ideas.
