    Danny Gans dies

    http://www.latimes.com/news/obituari...0,529059.story

Has anyone ever seen his show? I thought it was pretty good. Even if you have not seen his show, you have likely seen his billboards and ads around Vegas, as they are only slightly less ubiquitous than the one with all female butts.

He was pretty young to simply die in his sleep.

Speaking of this, I read a week or so ago that more evidence of steroids/doping had just been found from samples taken at the Beijing Olympics. One of the few sports that was implicated in the new findings....cycling.

      I was shocked.

Wow, Donut and I were just talking about him when I was in Vegas.

About 3 years ago my wife and I went to see Gans at the Mirage on a strong suggestion of our accountant. As I said to DH I think my wife and I were about 10-15 years to young to enjoy his act, which in 2005/6 was still Johnny Carson, Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan heavy. Sad he died so young.

There were four athletes tested positive. One cyclist, one weightlifter and two distance runners. Yep, it is all about cycling.

Sorry, I should have said, "One of the few sports that was implicated in the new findings....cycling."

            My bad.

My point is that cycling is unduly tainted in the public's mind, I think. It has cetainly been a dirty sport but no mreo so than others and less than some. But you were right, it did have a medal winner (D. Rebellin) implicated in the recent positive testing (FTR, he denies it and wants his B ssample tested).

Today's joke was on par with your "chicken/pig" joke.

Just becaseu you don't get it doesn't mean you have to mock it. Perhaps if you showed the pig's commitment to humor, you would understand.

DDD - your avatar's been there too long. Might I suggest another for a little variety?

I'd like to think I speak for several of us here when I say who the hell is Danny Gans? The picture of him didn't help. I have no idea who the guy is.

He was Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year for 12 years in a row. Was at the Mirage for a long time, just moved to the Wynn.
