How many emails do you get a day?

109 today (excluding spam). Nearly every single one needed an answer from me. In another job I would get a lot of emails (but probably more like 50), but probably half of them were discussions or reports I'd get copied on that didn't require action.

I get 30-40 emails a day. I'd guess 5-10 actually require a response or create work for me. However, one email can create a significant amount of work for me given my current position.

How in the hell can people have 2500+ of unopened emails? I am a bit OCD when it comes to my email inbox (and subsequent personal folders for storage). I can't stand to have emails linger in my inbox. wuap, pelligrino, have you fellas not heard of the delete function?

Yes, but I get so many emails from professional organizations and "Who's Who" places that after awhile there's just too many. If I spent time answering all of my emails, I'd never get any work done.

I have three emails (more than that, but three main ones). Work, personal, spam.

I never give out the work email to anyone, ever.

Personal. I only use it for family, friends, church, when I coach, etc.

Spam. Everything else. Anytime I sign up for anything, travel, register software even if it's work related. I check this once a day or every couple days.

Seriously. I'm completely OCD about this. I get a few hundred a day.

I can't imagine having thousands of unopened e-mails. If you aren't going to read them, why keep them around? I can vaporize a few dozen spam e-mails in less than a minute.

Tomorrow, Coker is switching to gmail. We've been using OWA Outlook, and if you don't use IE, then it doesn't play well with others. I use Chrome.

Once I get gmail, I'm going to clean up, but until then, I just let them sit there.

I'm down to 50 with my new job. Before that, it was in the 100-150 range. That said, my office here is a big user of Office Messenger, so that figure of 50 has been artificially lowered quite a bit.
