    In case you hadn't heard

    Twitter is all the rage.

You can thank Craig Bolerjack for that tidbit of knowledge.

A little over a year ago I signed up for Twitter, then after 1 day and 2 tweets I realized that with nobody following me I was doing little more than talking to myself, only in digital form. I logged on last night and updated my status because I was no longer at the airport as my previous update had said.

I think I would love twitter if I was about 5-10 years younger. I recently asked a couple of my friends if they wanted to sign up and was asked why don't we just text each other? I didn't have a good response.

    Are there any tweeters here?

I signed up to see what it was all about and I haven't tweeted since. I don't get it, I guess. I prefer facebook.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

Is there a difference between a Twitter tweet and a facebook status update? I don't understand the relevance of having both.

if you're not a celebrity it doesn't make much sense.

No they are the same. However you can set it up so whenever you tweet it updates your facebook status. Which is really annoying.

Here is a link to an article that talks about all that is wrong with celebrity twittering, and specifically Ashton Kutcher twittering.

                    http://adage.com/mediaworks/article?article_id=136238

It basically makes the argument that Ashton Kutcher didn't do what he thought he did when he reached 1.000.000 followers on twitter. Also, it just reitterates that Kutcher is an idiot.

Basically, Kutcher believed that when he got to 1 mil that he was some how showing that the voice of 1 person is as strong as a whole media empire, that it was a victory for the little guy, and that there was some sort of seachange underway with twitter in relation to how we get our news.

IMO, Twitter, along with Facebook status updates, are about 99% noise and more a reflection of a generations vanity.

I've never tweeted. I check status updates of several pro cyclists. Mainly because you get cycling news much faster that way.
