    Official God hates New Orleans thread

    Tropical Storm Isaac says "Psyche!" to Tampa, and aims for NO. Anticipating a Category 2 landfall and up to 18 inches of rain in New Orleans and Mobile.

    Anyone know if NO is any more prepared for a major storm than they were in 2005?

    Lots of prayers in the next 72 hours.

                          Have you ever had the beignets at Cafe du Monde? You should totally go there. Get a photo with some of the powdered sugar on your nose. Make a cocaine joke.

                                          That place is fantastic. I worked in New Orleans for maybe 6 months early in my career and was lucky to be on an expense account. Sunday brunch at Upperline and then walking around the garden district....heaven. One of my fave cities. So many good places. Even the most famous ones like commanders are still delivering.

                                          that being said, even a lowbrow breakfast at mothers is better than anything I will get around here.

                                                      In medical school 11 buddies (all white boy Mormons) and I rented an RV and drove to Philly for a test. Did the cheesesteak thing. Got the earful because the first guy in line ordered like it was Cafe Rio. Our whole group was treated to some warm bread and steak sandwiches (noobs don't get cheese, onions, etc). I have to say, it was good but not worth the trip. If I was in area it might be a decent meal, but not worth going out of the way for.
