Camera question. So you can get a T3i, for example, with a standard 18-55 mm lens. You can also get it with an 18-135 mm lens, for about $130 more. Any reson you would go one way or the other? (other than saving $130, obviously)

The larger lens is way heavier. Heavier really makes a difference when deciding what to grab to take pix. If you know the approximate length you need, then you can grab the specialized lens. Otherwise you have to use the heavier one. Conversely, it's kind of a bummer when you have the shorter lens on and need just a tad bit more length. You have to change out the whole lens.
I used my D40 every way to Sunday, and I knew it inside and out, in all kinds of conditions. I could make that puppy sing. Then I bought a more expensive model, which I dont use as much because I have less time and I'm also afraid of getting it stolen, breakage, etc. Also the lenses for the new one are super expensive so I only have 2 lenses for the expensive one (currently)-- both really short lenses, so I cant take a lot of pictures with it. So far, it's been a waste of money. The only thing that makes me feel better is that I can sell both the body and the lenses for more than I paid for them. Nikon lenses only go up.

It's a kit lens not worth the extra dough. I'd much rather have the 18-55 and then spend the $130 on a nifty fifty.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostCamera question. I didn't need it, but I went out and bought a Nikon D7000 and don't regret it. It was my birthday, Father's Day and Christmas present.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

For what it's worth. I'm in "negotiations" in trying to convince my boss that we need a new 6D for a field camera.I told him he was a goddamn Nazi Stormtrooper.
