OK, I don't like using the board as a help desk, and I swear that I am fairly technically proficient, but I have been going crazy trying to figure this out, and thought maybe someone else had faced this issue.

If I ever abandon the iPhone for Android, it will probably be for Google compatibility. I am having problems syncing my iPhone contacts with my gmail contacts. I have my iPhone set up to sync contacts with the iCloud, and I also have gmail set up as an Exchange server, with Contact syncing on. This is not working the way I think it should, though. If I enter in a new contact on my phone, within a couple of minutes, it shows up in gmail, which is nice, but it does NOT show up in the iCloud.

On the other hand, the iCloud does have 150 contacts in it. These are all older contacts, that were created a while ago. NONE of these contacts show up in my gmail contact list. When I go into my contacts on my iphone, I see the combined list of all contacts, but when I go to "groups", they are in two different groups. The gmail contacts are in one group, and the iCloud ones are in another.

I just want one list of contacts, and I want them to sync to gmail, so I can use them there, and I want them to sync to the iCloud, so they are backed up there as well. Am I doing something wrong? I have googled this in many ways and can't figure it out. This seems like it should be pretty basic.

Alright, I hope someone here knows how to fix a little problem I'm having with iOS. Ever since my firm changed servers, whenever I get an invitation through Exchange, it arrives on both on my iPad and iPhone like you'd expect. When I accept it on one device, it bounces over to the other device. It doesn't matter how many times I accept the stupid invitation, it just goes over to the other device. So, any ideas on how to stop this besides just deleting the account?

I still haven't figured my issue out, in case anyone has some insight. Granted, I haven't tried to since I posted this. I have just been waiting for the technical brilliance of CUF to solve everything for me.

My iPhone 6 just stopped connecting to my home wifi. In the wifi settings it shows that it is trying to connect, but the thinking circle never stops spinning. If I power down or soft reset sometimes it will connect for a while but then just stops. I did a couple of Google searches and have updated to the newest software. Any ideas? Also, wifi works on other devices and is fully functional.

Try resetting your router.

Yes it picks up other networks, office, schools, golf course, where I am regularly. I'll try resetting the router.

I don't know if someone told me that or not, that's what I've always called it. This community never stops giving.

This has happened to me before. What I did that resolved it was click on the "Forget this network" thing (without looking I think it's settings > wifi > click the "i" icon on the network in question, then "Forget this network". After that just reconnect.

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Should be in tip top shape after that. I hope it works for you and never be afraid to ask me for help in the future.

How often do you people backup your phone? As we are leaving tonight for a cruise I wanted to back that thang up, in case I drop it in ocean or barter it for shell necklaces I will still have all my 7 years worth of text conversations. It looks like my last backup was in August and I'm 2 hours in and the progress bar is only about halfway across. :sad:

Every night. Also, don't save all your text conversations. They are hard to access, of limited historical interest, and might even be incriminating.

As further evidence I'm a tech dunce, why should I be backing up my iPhone? My email is through Outlook which is tied to my office, and that backs up nightly. Is there something else I need to save, other than my photo collection of reclining nudes of various CS members (sadly, all of them male)?
