    Father's day 2012 thread

    First off.....

    http://www.groupon.com/occasions

Second, what do you guys do for Father's Day? Mother's day always seems to be a much bigger deal. My wife doesn't grill, so I will be making my own Father's Day meal. All I ask is that she has the lesson for primary that day and I'm happy.

Father's day is my vacation day. I skip church and go do something relaxing, like go on a long motorcycle ride. As long as it allows for plenty of contemplation it is fine with me.

This year I am traveling home from Montana, solo.
Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

Father's day always conflicts with my wife's and daughter's birthdays, so I just try to get them to ignore it.

Are they trying to be funny? I don't get it. Not creepy, just weird.

My favorite Father's Day ward events were what we used to do here before the ward split. During the third hour, all the Elders and HPs would meet in the gym with all the primary kids. The Primary presidency would make a bunch of cookies and we would eat cookies and milk while socializing with other men and our kids. It was a blast.

So tomorrow, I am teaching in HP, and I thought I would much rather do something like this than prepare a lesson, so I called up the Elder's Quorum President and offered to bring a bunch of cookies, and all meet together to eat them. He regretfully explained that he prepared a lesson on the responsibilities of fatherhood, and had already emailed the quorum letting them know what the lesson was on.

So I guess we will be doing this alone without the Elders tomorrow, which is kind of lame as we sometimes only have half a dozen or so in the group on third Sundays. I have made three kinds of cookies (JL's Ginger Snaps, Chocolate Chip, and some tasty chocolate ones), and will be cutting my lesson off after 10 minutes or so. I haven't informed the HP Group Leader of my plan.

So anyone who will be attending my ward tomorrow may want to keep this in mind.

We still do this. It's become quite a tradition, except the cookies are made by a bunch of people, not just the Primary presidency. Looking forward to it. Oink!

Just got home from the gun range. Probably my best performance thus far. About to go down to my parents house for biscuits and sausage gravy! Church after breakfast. I have a tri-tip marinating that will be smoked for dinner. I will end the night with an episode or two of Sons of Anarchy and the game 3 of the Finals...my family is out of town if you couldn't tell.
