Here is Chevy's new COPO Camaro.

First day at the drags, it ran A 9.69 AT 140 mph, and that was leaving soft. Not bad for taking a stab at a converter and gears.

That was with the 327ci engine with Whipple 2.9L supercharger, LSX block, LS7 heads, 9:1 compression, and big ass camshaft.

I want to see the 427ci with LS7 heads, big camshaft, Holley intake, and big compression.

And if drag racing isn't your thing, you can try taking up whittling. Its inexpensive and can be very fulfilling.

If you want to drag race, you can spend $89,000 on that Camaro, or $15,000 on a Kawasaki ZX-14 which can go over 150 mph in a quarter mile in less than 9.5 seconds.

You can guess which one I would get (IF I wanted to drag race).

Seems to me that most people that are into that, especially drag racing, are more interested in the process of getting a car to the track than they are actually running it for 9-10 seconds at a time.

If it's costing you in excess of $100K, I think it becomes something more than just a hobby.

Even if they buy the COPO... they're still gonna have to work on it and even rebuild it from time to time.

The guys that compete with 8000 horsepower Top Fuel or Funny cars running the 1/4 mile in 4.5 seconds do it for a career.

Building a ten second car is an investment in time and money. For many people, after building something like that... they want to see how it stacks up to what others built.

Kinda like whittling or even donkey baseball.
