Too much for a salvaged title.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I would pull the trigger if it wasn't for the salvaged titled. I find it hard to beleive that an insurance company "totaled it'
, due to a light damage in the left side, head light and bumper has been professionally replaced by ASAY AUTOS
I would pass or over the guy less money and see what happens...

Exactly. The damage he describes couldn't be in excess of the car's value IMO. So he's probably not telling the entire truth about the extent of the accident.

I would stay away from it. Especially on a vehicle with nearly 100k miles.

Im going to take it to be aligned and have them see if there is more damage than that.

Another way to look at it is he's basically discounting the car 25% off clean retail pricing ($9875 per NADA) with a clear title. First of all, this is a private seller so you can figure a minimum of $500 less than retail. Also a vehicle that is 7 years old that has been in an accident with a rebuilt title is rarely going to qualify as "clean." So likely another $500 off or more. So in reality he's only discounting his vehicle 16% (discounted $1000 but probably should be more) because of the rebuilt title which isn't much. On older, less valuable vehicles you can expect that kind of discount, but on this type of vehicle I'd expect to see a minimum 30% or a $6200 asking price. I'd offer $6k and not a dollar more. And even then I'd be hesitant.

That said, the Civic is a popular car and vehicles under $10k and under 100k miles tend to move fast so I am sure someone will give him his asking price. Especially in a place like Utah.

Too late. The ad already says 'sale pending'. I guess someone else really jumped on it.

I wouldn't buy a salvage title, unless I was parting it out. No way no how.

the accident was light enough that no airbags deployed, if I take it to the shop and they see no bent frames, axels, etc., should I still worry?

there are a bunch of civics in the $6500 price range w/~130k miles. find one that's had the timing belt done and buy that. that car is too fishy to even buy at a more significant discount than 25% off market.

I am probably going to have a 2000 Civic for sale sometime in August/September.

                          130k miles.

But it has a new water pump/timing belt.

yes. creekster will be along shortly to let everyone know that this is a unibody car and thus does not have a frame to bend, meaning there could be damage that was done structurally that would be tough to impossible to spot. a car will never be the same even with a replacement door. locks are more likely to fail, window mechanisms are more likely to fail, door hinges might be bent (which will make the rubber seals around the window/door ineffective --> tons of road noise), etc. perhaps most importantly, there will be basically no resale value.
