  • Do you pee in the pool?

So, since I've been swimming most every day in a public swimming pool, and after some conversations with friends, I'm wondering how many people actually pee in the pool. I'm a little grossed out, so maybe this poll is a bad idea, but I'm hoping that the results are not what I expect based on the conversations I've had of late. The poll is private.

Before I was about 14 years old? every time I went in a pool. Now? of course not.

Whenever I am in a pool with kids I do assume that there is a bunch of urine in there, but that's what the chlorine is for, so I don't let it worry me too much.

We don't swim in your toilet, please don't pee in our pool.

I had a friend growing up with that sign posted by their pool.

Peeing in the pool is nasty. Nobody should ever do it. Peeing in your wetsuit while surfing? Absolutely. Especially in cold water.

How about the sign that had the word "ool" and then some variation of a joke about how there is no "p" in it?

I don't swim in community pppppppppppppppppppppppppppools. Gross.

Several years ago, there was a rash of cryptosporidium cases(a fecal pathogen) that was linked to public pools. During that time, the pool in Price had a sign that said:

I think this needs to be required in EVERY public pool. Then I will feel safe to venture into those pools again..

For a while I used to go to the YMCA to do laps and found it gross when I would find hair, and who knows what on my hands and trunks afterwards.. It kinda caused me to not to go as much.. SPECIALLY in the summer.. When the pool is used even more.

The winter you have less people going and the pools seemed to be cleaner...

That happened the summer right after me and Gidget were married. The two pools where we lived both were closed for it.

I've had crypto (either that or giardia). Nasty stuff. I thought I was going to die.

This, except change 14 to maybe 6.

I don't pee in the pool because that would be a HUGE waste of water.

And why pee in a pool when there are sinks pretty much everywhere?

When my oldest was about 6 we were at a local pool and he is in the water. He comes to the edge of the pool with a horribly distressed look on his face and screams at my wife "Mom, MOM! I have to go the bathroom NOW!" She was talking with friends and didn't immediately realize he was calling to her but instead of getting out of the water he just screams it out again loudly enough for everyone to hear. My wife hears him the second time and tells him to get out of the water and go to the bathroom in the pool house. But suddenly my son's face relaxes and he says "Never mind; its ok now." He then swims away. All our friends look at us; we were mortified.
                              PLesa excuse the tpyos.
