    iPhone alternatives for members of the iResistance

    I'm transitioning from my HTC Inspire this month. I've really liked it but the screen was cracked a while back and I'm eligible for an upgrade.

    So I stopped by and checked out the Samsung Galaxy Note today and I think I'm going to do it. No, don't really care about the stylus. I'll probably barely use it. I worried that the size might make it awkward to put up against my head while talking but it felt fine - and I usually use a headset or talk through earphones anyway.

    I love the big display and the resolution is stunning. I like that it has - like the Inspire - an 8 mp camera w/ a second camera so I can chat . The processor is fast like Rod Wilkerson but w/ better hands.

    Possible other option: The HTC One X.

    Any other options I shld be looking at? I want to stay w/ Android.

    I just upgraded to a Droid Bionic, it is fantastic. I got the latest ipod touch for Christmas which is similar to the iphone and the Bionic kicks its ass. Fast, more customizable, widgets run great, good battery life.

    EDIT: Looks like you are with AT&T, so you can't get the Bionic, unless you nut up and switch to Verizon

      Yeah, sadly no nutting up for me on this front - my parents live in the only pocket in America that gets good ATT reception and no Verizon and I go see them for 4-6 days every other month or so.... it's been a major disincentive to making a switch.

                Has anyone heard about the fMRI study that found that people had the same brain response to the Apple icon as to religious icons? Made me chuckle (and think of Uncle Ted )

                  Is that that the one with the 6 inch screen or something? I'm not sure what At&t's version is called but just get that Galaxy Nexus. The iPhone sucks, avoid it.

                  Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                          I am due to upgrade next month. I haven't really been looking much yet so I don't know what is hot or what is due out soon.

                          I love my Evo 4G. I have a 16GB card in it. It's rooted. I can get most apps I want or find the apk online somewhere for free. Gidget kind of wants an iPhone, but she doesn't like the smaller screen. At first she hated the Evo because of the phone's size but now she doesn't like anything smaller than it.

                          What I'll probably do is look and see which phones are most popular with the dev groups. That's why I love the Evo. There are a thousand roms for it.

                            Samsung Galaxy Nexus, or whatever Sprint's version of it's called. It's the big Droid phone right now. I wish HTC would come out with a more powerful version of the EVO/Thunderbolt

                              With how much you like HTC, I don't see any option for you but the HTC One X or One S if you don't want the really large screen. Galaxy SII also are amazing phones. I don't understand why anyone would buy an iPhone over the Galaxy SII right now.
