Barefoot: It's not just for running anymore

I am giving up shoes. Seriously, this is day two of being barefoot. I have been to the store, library and to my kids' school all sans shoes.

Good for you. I think I mentioned to you that I'm going zero drop most of the time, even at work, and I'm interested to see how this works out.

'sup, I love you, but bare feet in a public place (except for the beach/pool/locker room) is just revolting, even degradation of the human spirit.

One of the things that the Nazis would do to newly arrived concentration camp detainees was make them walk around nude and barefoot. Many survivors said that it was one of them most degrading experiences they had while there, not because they were nude, but because they were barefoot.

I have a good friend who actually dry heaves if he sees bare feet on pavement. I didn't believe him until I saw it happen. There can't be too many like him in the world though so you should be safe.

But seriously, good for you. I wouldn't go barefoot just for sanitary reasons, but I do almost always wear flip flops or just socks at home.
