I am ashamed to admit my inexperience, but I have never bought anything off of Craigslist. Would I be correct in assuming that this is a venue in which bargaining is common and expected?

Meeting women on Craigslist
For all of those guys that think meeting women on Craigslist and then conning them out of some money is a good idea, I present this story:
A Wisconsin judge ruled there is enough evidence for four women to stand trial for their roles in a staged motel tryst that ended with a man tied to a bed, his penis super-glued to his stomach, a lawyer for one of the women said Wednesday.
A few women on the side here and there and a few thousand dollars extracted from them and next thing you know they superglue your penis to your stomach.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I <heart> craigslist!
I tell you what, craigslist plus a down economy is an absolute goldmine.
('Jake' is babs, btw.)Need someone to haul off old king-sized mattress and 3-4 other household items. Pay negotiable. Reply to Jake with bids.
Bidder one: "You won't find anybody to do it for less than $95. I can do it later today. Just let me know where to show up."
Bidder two: "I do this kind of thing all the time. I'll do it for $75."
Bidders three and four: $50.
Bidder five: "Normally I'd charge 45, but business is slow and I'll do it for $35."
Folks, I think we have a winner. lol.

It's actually more effective if you "keep them on the hook" rather than convert. You could get all kinds of free stuff.Originally posted by Babs View Postyeah, I totally meant to convert before the move so I could call up the EQ.Just try it once. We sold almost all of our furniture on craigslist when we packed up to move. We met a few weirdos but got way more money than we would have at a yardsale."More crazy people to Provo go than to any other town in the state."

No kidding! Missionaries still pop by from time to time and ask "Is there anything we can do to help you guys out? Yard work? Anything?" If it wouldn't make me feel bad, I'd love to have them help finish some concrete (if I could trust them not to eff it up... there is always the one elder who can barely tuck in his shirt, let alone finish concrete). The ironic thing is, they would probably love to do some work for us, just as a diversion from the usual stuff they have to do. If I could get the work without the invitations and 'spirtul messages,' maybe... but in the long run, Mexicans are cheaper than missionaries.Originally posted by BlueHair View PostIt's actually more effective if you "keep them on the hook" rather than convert. Wrong strategy. Here's what you should have posted:Need someone to haul off old king-sized mattress and 3-4 other household items. Pay negotiable. Reply to Jake with bids.
Old king-sized mattress and 3-4 other household items. $35 for the lot. Please haul off by Tuesday.

I'm not giving up so fast:Originally posted by Babs View PostRight. This is what my sister said, too. But it's illegal to resell mattresses in the state of Oklahoma. Plus it's just plain nasty.
Dang it, I just know you can get anyone on CraigsList to do anything you want if you use the right approach.3-4 Household items, $40. Will consider a 50% discount if you haul off a king sized mattress.
