I need a little assistance. I'm in need of a program that will allow me to take 22 different numbers to see if any combination of those numbers will equal a specified number. I've been trying to do it manually, and my patience is officially exhausted. Anyone know of such a thing?

That might be something that can be scripted. Can you give me a little more information? What you say "22 different numbers", do you mean digits? And what do you mean by "equal a specified number"? Sum?

Sure. I'll use round numbers due to the public nature of the board, but in short I have 22 different dollar amounts ranging from roughly -135,000 to 1,1750,000. The specified number is roughly 3,500,000. I'm trying to figure out if any combination of the 22 numbers can equal 3,500,000. Unfortunately, the figures in question are not round, and I'm testing the limits of my ADD trying to figure this stuff out.

excel is pretty neat, especially considering how old it is. i don't think it's had any important non-UI changes for a long time.

Excel is the greatest data manipulation and analytics tool ever created. It's not the most powerful, the most elegant, or the easiest to use. None of those things make it great. Its ubiquity is what makes it great.

Agree. Let's hope it stays that way. With Microsoft fumbling everything and Google kicking ass and everything headed to the cloud, there's no guarantee.

Google's into homeware now? What's the thread count? Where do you get them?

I disagree. It doesn't even let you rotate text 90 degrees within cells!

I would never consider it a full replacement for Excel, but it is very powerful. The best feature is that multiple people can edit at the same time. You can also create a link to a google sheet from Excel if you need to use the sheet data in Excel for some reason. Just click Refresh whenever you need it to pull down the latest version of the google sheet data. So you can get the best of both worlds.
