Not to steal your thunder, JP, but a few minutes ago I officially signed up for Google Fiber. Installation starts November 1.

I am going to blow this thread out of the water!

Funny. I actually thought about that when I was posting. I'll be interested to see how your connection fares.

Cool numbers. Can you tell a difference in real use applications? Any examples?

Yeah, when I download 6GB software image for work it takes a lot less time.

Oh, got to go... I guess I will be spending less time on CS now.

I know this is nothing special, but after suffering through the last one to two years with internet speed that varied randomly between 0 and 10 Mb/s (I thought it was a problem with my router location that I was hesitant to change), I finally just replaced the modem/router, and I'm thoroughly enjoying 60+ Mb/s from Comcast like I should have been getting all along.

My experience has been that modems/routers have a life cycle. And for various reasons, if you don't upgrade often enough, your speed will suffer.

It's not too late to take that back and upgrade!

Also easier said than done. When I put my address in on CenturyLink's website to check for fiber, they say I only qualify for DSL
