Just curious...if you were going to leave on a Thursday and have to be back on a Sunday night, so basically a 4 day/3 night trip. Where would you go? You can fly out early on a Thursday and get back late on Sunday. This is from Utah. Surprise me with your great suggestions.

Remember this is from a history nerd so, take it FWIW, but if you haven't been I would go to the D.C area and tour the Civil War Battlefields and the monuments on the mall.Originally posted by UteStar View PostJust curious...if you were going to leave on a Thursday and have to be back on a Sunday night, so basically a 4 day/3 night trip. In that vein, earlier this summer my brother and drove up to the Little Bighorn and did the Indian War sites up in that corner of Montana and Wyoming in addition to spending a couple of days in Yellowstone/Teton NPs. The drive across nothern Wyoming is much, much, much more scenic than I-80

I may be small, but I'm slow.

We spent the weekend in Vancouver, BC, which is just a fantastic city. From SLC you have pretty quick trips to places like LA, SF, SD, LV, Seattle, etc., where you could make a nice weekend, but if you've done all those I would definitely recommend Vancouver. The flight can't be much longer than most of the those places. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Delta is doing a sale right now for SLC-San Diego. $89 each way. That is one of my favorite spots."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Go visit every National Park in Utah. Stay somewhere different every night. You could possibly squeeze in Mesa Verde and the Grand Canyon too. Be sure to drive through Monument Valley on the way to/from the Grand Canyon.Originally posted by UteStar View PostJust curious...if you were going to leave on a Thursday and have to be back on a Sunday night, so basically a 4 day/3 night trip. Alternatively, fly to California and visit our National Parks. It's tough to see all of them in a week. I've tried it and missed two of them (Channel Islands and Joshua Tree, but fit in Crater Lake in Oregon).
