What's the going rate these days? Say couple of hours for a couple of kids.

How much do you pay for babysitting?

We always ask the babysitter what they usually charge and that's always been about 5 an hour. We usually time it so they come no more than two hours before bed time. Most of their pay comes from just making sure the house doesn't burn down.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

We've got a neighbor kid who's great (though we don't use a babysitter very often) and she charges $4 /hour, she's only 13 and isn't too obsessed with other things going on and her parents always stay home when she's working so if something bad does happen, they're easily available. Plus, they own the place we're renting so they have a vested interest in its well being.
Apparently, the going rate in our ward is closer to $8/hour which I didn't make until I was doing manual labor after high school so I'm very reluctant to go the ward route for babysitting.I have nothing else to say at this time.

For the most part we always have family or when we lived in Utah some of our single friends would babysit for us. Typically we don't go out until the kids are in bed (they're in bed at 8pm) so there really isn't much to do but hold down the fort and be there in case the kids wake up.Originally posted by Parrot Head View PostWe've got a neighbor kid who's great (though we don't use a babysitter very often) and she charges $4 /hour, she's only 13 and isn't too obsessed with other things going on and her parents always stay home when she's working so if something bad does happen, they're easily available. We only have a handful of YW in our small ward who babysit. And we've only used one once for a temple trip and we attempted to pay her but the mother wouldn't let her take it since we went to the temple.
And like you it's been a long time since I was paid to be babysit and I might have made $10-15 for 5 hours or so."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

We have a girl in our ward who charges $2 per hour per kid, which seems reasonable. I suspect if she's watching one kid, it's more than that."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

$5/hour for our three kids (10, 7, 4). Our 10 yo is almost zero maintenance, occasionally babysits for us on shorter stints, so I think it's fair.At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

You've GOT to be kidding me. How old is she? This must be a Utah thing.

This is what we pay as long as the kids are awake although we don't explicitly tell the babysitter. After they go to bed we discount it a bit. We also always check the house and will increase/decrease depending on the state of the kitchen/toy room.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostWe have a girl in our ward who charges $2 per hour per kid, which seems reasonable. It gets expensive when we do outings. Last month we did a temple trip followed by a HP7.2 viewing, with the whole thing lasting 5 hours. We paid $45 since the last two hours were after the kids were asleep.
We have babysitting lined up for the Texas game with a set fee of $100. We figure we'll be gone most of the day either traveling or at the game."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. Oddly enough the non-Mos charge less than the Mos in my area....and most of the non-Mos are CPR trained.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostIt is a Utah thing.
