It takes one to know one

While on facebook I saw that the son of my cousin was tagged in an album. It was his prom picture. My dad is a convert so that whole side of my family is not Mormon. But when I saw my cousin's son's prom date in a beautiful and modest dress I said to myself, "no teenage girl picks out a dress with sleeves to wear to her prom, she must be Mormon." I click on her name and what do I see? She's in the BYU-Idaho network.

My gaydar is pretty weak, but my LDS-dar is as sharp as a tack. How about yours?
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I'm thinking that many on here are rather proficient at spotting Utah Mormons.

My wife gets embarrassed with me when we go on vacation because I always am pointing out mormons.

I am especially good at picking out gay Mormons, but not because "it takes one to know one."

I suck at that. Or at least I used to. Two of my former boyfriends are gay and now open about it. I had no clue at the time.

I'm guessing that not a lot of them are doing the same to you.

My gaydar is totally unreliable. I have tried to set up guys only to have them tell me they are gay. Oh, and I don't even want to tell you how long I bought UtesStar's metro routine.

I'm really good at identifying Arizona Mormon women. I just look for the fake boobs, knee-length shorts, and 32 oz. Diet Coke.

Mo-dar is not as difficult as gay-dar.

Mos have a lot of non-verbal tells that assist greatly. Marsupial's story is a good example. The prime reason her Mo-Dar went off was because she saw a teen wearing a modest prom dress.

Likewise, other tells (I think I have listed these before)

Husband and wife are wearing super long, fugly shorts (longer than necessary, btw. Shorts don't have to go 8 inches below your knees to cover up your stuff)

You can see the woman's squared-off garment line through her t shirt.

Husband and wife are traveling with 3-5 kids but the parents look like they are about 30 years old.

                  The kids are wearing crocs.

The kids are wearing t shirts that associate them with any of the following: BYU, Youth Conference, Idaho, or Aeropostale.

My primary tell for a female is simply to notice the strange patterns of garment and bra under a t shirt. I have yet to know of any non-LDS woman who wears anything remotely akin to this.
                  Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

HFN and I had this discussion when he took me to lunch in Vegas, and came to the same conclusion. Other topics of the conversation included transvestites and transsexuals, whether or not the bullet holes in the car parked next to mine were real or of the sticker variety (a close inspection revealed they were real), and a thorough discussion of campground host responsibilities and pay (in case this whole lawyering gig doesn't work out). It was a pretty enlightening lunch, all around.

Speaking of typical female garment wearing behavior, how do the women here wear their g's? Over or under the bra?

Growing up, I remember my mother held firm to the belief that the g needed to be next to the skin, so she always wore it under the bra. We had a fairly lax family nudity policy, so seeing my mom with her g's bunched up around her bra was not an uncommon sight.

When Faith and I got married, I insisted she switch from under the bra to over the bra. My views were thus -- I think a woman in a bra is sexy, so when it came time to strip her bare, like licking my way to the tootsie good center of a lolly pop, I wanted to appreciate the hot bra-look, if even for only a moment.

As far as I know, there is no official instruction either way. So ladies with g's, if you don't mind my asking (and the question certainly doesn't deserve its own thread), what is your custom?

I would guess not but you never know. I do tend to wear long shorts, and I have 3 kids by the age of 30.

Yes I had a great time also, and am looking forward to the buffet next month. Sadly I think it will be on me unless Oden puts up like an April of 55 ppg 25 rpg 5.2 bpg from here on out. That would still win him rook of the year.

Hmmm... Let me ponder this question... Would I feel comfortable sharing with RF my underwear wearing habits?

                          I'm going with no.

Oden would have to be on the court for that to even be a possibility, wouldn't he? As for spouses, Mrs. Donut gets full after half a cheeseburger, so buffets aren't really her thing. Not that she wouldn't love the variety, but most toddlers get more bang for their all-you-can-eat buck than her.

Satisfy yourself. My theory is that in the question of Over or Under, a lot of women go with Under, because that is what their mothers taught them. But I think that a lot of women would prefer Over, and there just isn't any official counsel on the matter. It is one of those little things that can make life just a tiny bit more pleasant.
