I picked up one of these a couple months ago. Used it last night to make some Pinterest project for MJ. Works like a champ.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

So bumping this thread is timely... Later today I am going over to a friend's place help install an Apple Airport Extreme or actually a time capsule. My friend lives in a high rise downtown. The view of the city is very nice but it is pure wifi hell. I counted no less than 20 SSID's showing up on my phone the last time I was there. Needless to say, his wireless connectivity is poor (due to the wireless saturation, I am sure). He just has the AT&T issued router box which only uses the 2.4ghz band. It will be interesting if the Airport Extreme improves his connectivity. I will try to remember to return and report.

Good news! Your eero system's been updated
Your eero system’s software was updated overnight to improve its speed, performance, and stability. If you haven’t been using your network, now’s the time to take it for a test drive.

In the future, we’ll let you know when you're getting new features, significant performance improvements, and the latest security. In between those big updates, your system will regularly refresh itself to keep it working better than ever. Updates only take a minute and happen overnight when you're not using your network.

I could have tried Lebowski's old setup with a router and an extender. And somehow try to figure how to make the extender use the same SSID without mad engineering skills. But you just don't get this level of service without dropping $500.

Or you could try my new setup!

Yeah, I did this in my house. Ethernet to every TV and to every fixed computer location.

If I hadn't already bought a router before, I certainly would have tried it. But I just wanted to solve the problem and not worry about it anymore.

Sounds complicated. Besides, eero tells me that repeaters come with their own problems. And I trust them, 100%. Their website is just too cool not to believe them.

ewth8tr suggested eero to me in another thread a few weeks ago. The set up took less than 10 minutes and I haven't had to reset/unplug/swear loudly (internet related only) since then.

Indeed. But it took $500 to buy this slut!

I'm not surprised I caught some flak from the more technically savvy people here. But this has been the easiest network I have set up, by far. I'm with you (and anyone else who can't get their extender to broadcast the same SSID); it really is a great product.

Just having fun. I have been reading some reviews and it sounds impressive. Let us know how it works out.

So it's been almost three months since I've had the eero. There was a stretch of about 2 weeks when someone in the house would yell, 'something's wrong with the wifi!', and I would open the eero app on my phone. I would notice one of the locations was not connected to the internet. I wasn't sure exactly why it wasn't connected, but within a minute it would invariably reconnect without me doing anything. I'm still not sure why it was doing that. I wondered if it was repaired by a system upgrade, but I never received a notice for that. At any rate, it has been a month since that happened last. There have been no other issues. I also added a Sonos player to the system. Video, audio, and all other data are streaming just fine. And, my 'outdoor living room' still has a strong wifi signal.

So yeah, I am still very happy with the system. My endorsement still stands, if anyone needs an upgrade.
