I like Feather blades, but a sampler pack is a great way to experiment

I'm on day four of wet shaving with a DE razor. Some intial thoughts:
The C.O. Bigelow (Poraso) shave cream creates a much thicker lather than the puck of shave soap I bought (Colonel Clunk's Lime Glycerine). I'm tempted to try some higher end creams, but I've put enough money into this little venture (which started in an effort to save a little cash).
The shave on my face is a really decent shave. Close, no irritation, etc. My neck has always been my problem area. I'm not getting the angle right on the left side of my neck and it's causing a little irritation (I'm right handed, and don't trust the steadiness of my left hand), due to an awkward angle.
Otherwise, I'm glad I switched.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

+1 for the ToBS recommendation, another excellent cream is Geo F. Trumper. The proraso from Bath and Body Works is in the shaving rotation as well, its an excellent cream.
Also, MamaBear makes some excellent shaving soaps. They are great for "superlather": http://mamabearssoaps.com/index.php?...=index&cPath=1
Nivea makes an excellent aftershave: http://www.amazon.com/Nivea-Sensitiv.../dp/B000GCQC6S
I'm also really enjoying a bunch of Clubman aftershaves, especially Special Reserve which layers well with other fragrances (like Hermes Eau de Hermes), also their citrus musk is excellent layered with Guerlain Habit Rouge.Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

After three months of shaving with concentrated cream, etc., Here's what I've found works best for me.
1. Use a hot towel against my face.
2. Art of shaving shave oil. I put the bottle in my sink with hot water to thin it out a bit and get better coverage.
3. Art of Shaving sandalwood cream. It's pricy, but I use much less of it than I did the Prosaro. I don't get it to full lather, and put it on a little thick. After I brush it on, I put a bit of hot water on my brush, then use the brush to improve the lather on my face. More than anything, the hot water seems to help preven razor burn.
4. Shave with the grain.
5. Reapply shaving cream, then shave perpindicular (not against) the grain.
6. Apply aftershave (I use Nivea for sensitive skin).
I use the blade for two shaves. After day 1, I flip the razor over (this provide marginal benefit). I tried to stretch it to 3 shaves, and my razor burn flared up.
I went from shaving every two or three days to avoid razor burn to having almost no razor burn at all.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

man, how long does all that take? I skipped shaving today (for the 4th straight day) because I didn't want to take the extra 5 minutes.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

with the exception of step 5, not exactly sure what is unique about this process for wet shaving. It sounds like you are just basically shaving your face like everyone else shaves their face.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostAfter three months of shaving with concentrated cream, etc., Here's what I've found works best for me.

That may be. I've never even heard of shaving oil, and didn't think that the hot towel really made much of a difference.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postwith the exception of step 5, not exactly sure what is unique about this process for wet shaving. I shave in the shower, after I've done all the other cleaning and my face has had a chance to soak up the steam. I lather it up with a little soap then shave with a Gillette Mach 3 or Fusion Powerglide or whatever the latest macho brand name happens to be. I used to feel slightly inadequate as my relatively thin beard seemed unmasculine. But then I realized I'm simply the beneficiary of a million years of evolution over the more hirsute.
