  • Floods: IN

This weekend we took the Puffy Check to some Thanksgiving Point Easter activity. As per my custom when I go out, I enjoy taking pics of the crowd. I nabbed a few choice pics of red-alert Utah hair but I also saw something really cool that I haven't seen in ages: floods. Some called them "highwaters," as well. Not sure if they were known by any other name.

Floods lack guile. They are not pretentious. They connote comfort and an emotional bond between garment and wearer. These were the classic floods. because the person was wearing jeans and white socks. Classic floods are always trimmed with white athletic socks. No exceptions.

Anyway, it really brought back some nostalgia to see a genuine pair of floods out there. I definitely rocked my share of floods back in the day. I looked for more that day but found none. Please feel free to post any pics of floods you might find while out and about in your towns and neighborhoods. I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for more.

BTW, the gold standard would be cord floods (preferably Levis cords) so if anyone can spot those, please post.

    Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

There's this movie directed by Marc Forster that I really like called Stay. It came out around '05, and Ewan McGregor, the lead in the story, wears this awesome pair of mustard colored cord floods. I always thought those pants were cool, in addition to having some symbolic significance to the story that I tried to work out for a while after viewing the movie. I just looked for a picture on google images and couldn't turn anything up. Darn.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

(...looks down to check pants, damn!!)

I am blessed/cursed with a 37" inseam and muscular legs. Most of the pants in stores go to 34" with occasional offerings into 36", but beyond that they are super skinny for the chicken-legged types. If I can find legs big enough around to cover my quads, they are attached to a 46" waist or a 32" inseam.

I get saddled with the "all pants that are too short" problem.

I totally know what you mean about the muscular legs problem, except my problem extends beyond just the quads as most of my body is excessively yoked. I hate it. Also, I'm looking into penile reduction surgery.

This should go in the "I saw it while walking" thread.

For floods to be "in" don't you first have to establish that the people wearing floods are trendsetters or at least that there is a large contingency of flood wearers? Currently I'm only seeing minimal evidence that isn't even close to circumstantial evidence.
