Poll: How old before you let your kids watch South Park?

Little Robin is 11, and is working his way through the South Park canon via netflix. It is his favorite show (30 Rock is his 2nd favorite and Archer comes in at number 3). Among his black friends, there are NO parents who restrict their kids from watching South Park. With his white friends it is just the opposite, and jaws drop when they learn that he gets to watch whatever he likes.

My reasoning for letting him watch South Park is this:

I like it, so I think it would be hypocritical to restrict it. This isn't our standard for drugs/alcohol, but it is our standard for media. If it is on Netflix, LR gets to decide what he is mature enough to watch.

I think South Park has some of the funniest, wittiest material out there. I think that exposing your children to smart and funny stuff is educational.

So, how old will YOUR kids need to be before you let them watch South Park?

According to me: I don't know. Maybe 15 or so?

According to my wife: Never while they live at home.

So our kids don't watch it, except on the sly occasionally.

My kids are the ones who got me hooked, but they are all over 21.

I was with 2 of my boys when it came on or they turned to it. I watched 5 minutes of it, told them it was disgusting and change the channel.

Later one night late I was surfing and it was on. I watched 5 more minutes without feeling like I needed to set a good example because no one else was there.

I have seen every episode several Times. The mormons, Osomo and the sniz episodes are probably my favorites.

The Die hippie Die episode kills me every time I watch it.

ManBearPig and In the Closet (the Scientology episode) are two of my favorites.

                I watch it, i'm 12

I watch South Park and i'm 12 years old. My best friend is 11 and we are obssessed with the show. We can take the blood and gore of Kenny's deaths and the language of the kids

I hope this isn't true. Not the part about you being obsessed with it but the part about you being twelve.

I honestly don't think i've made it through a single episode other than the mo'mon one, which was clever.

they are huge rush fans and that's about the only thing i think i can mesh with.

not offended, just don't think it's that witty

I'm similar but for different reasons. I've seen about 3 episodes all the way through and 2 of them were LDS related. ("Mormons.....Mormons was the correct answer..."). The other one was a J Lo taco flavored kisses episode. Beyond that, I never really watched much South Park. I just never got around to it.

What is the limit on content if it is funny?
