I've never played baseball or softball outside of a church league. My son plays little league and I'd like to get a glove to play catch with him. I used to have a decent glove when I was in high school that one of my baseball-playing friends gave to me, but I can't seem to find it.

Anyway, I went to Big 5 today to check out their selection. They have a lot of gloves. I went in thinking I'd like a 12.5" glove, but they have very few. It seems to not be a popular size? I tried on 13" and 12" gloves. The 13" gloves are softball mitts I think. The 12" glove seemed a little small. It fit my hand fine, but it felt like the reach was a little bit small. I bought the 13", but it just seems like its too big for baseballs.

Am I being too particular? Should I be fine with the 12"? Should stores realistically carry more 12.5" gloves? Maybe I'm too late and maybe all of the 12.5s have been snatched up. I really think I'm making too big a deal out of this, but I get very particular about smallish purchases like this.

I think you should go with a 12" inch baseball glove, I personally like mizuno or louisville slugger. You could find a nice selection for good prices at www.baseballbargains.com. I make all my purchases off here,they are great. good luck.

Don't listen to Ron. www.baseballbargains.com charged me for a new glove, an Easton bat, a batting helmet, a thumb protector, a cup, and a rosin bag, and never delivered the merchandise. When I complained, they sent someone over to my house, killed my pet rabbit, and left its severed head on my front porch with a note saying that I should stop complaining, "if I knew what was good for me". As far as brands go, Wilson A2000 and Rawlings are some of the best ones out there in terms of quality and fitment and they're probably the brands that carry multiple sizes. Also, my son is now 17 and has no interest in baseball. But I still have the memories from playing catch in the backyard and watching him play little league. Not even kahunaverse.com, with all its selection and options, can give me more of that.

When I was a kid I only owned Wilson gloves and looked down on kids with Spalding gloves. Wilson was the Titleist Pro-V1 of gloves and Spalding was the Wilson Pro Staff of gloves. Ironic.
