Upstream is about to take a beating. You guys might be in decent shape, but smaller independents are hosed--especially once their hedges are done.

We are at 2/3ds the employees we were 3 years ago, and my guess is that we will lose another 10% of our 2013 high this year.

Yep. I have an interview today with a (gulp) law firm. The pay for Houston firms is great, and there are tons of private equity folks looking to buy low.

I don't live there, but it's around 2.60 in L.A. Oil is trading in the 30s right now. I guess they're having another problem at the refinery!

unfortunately there's a spillover of SoCal's high prices into Vegas and Southern Utah. In St. George, it's around 2.15. In New York City, 1.90.

If this is true my FIL is supremely unlucky. He has been involved with small exploration companies eager to give employees a ton of stock options. The first time he hoarded stock was right around 2007-8, and the crash delayed his plans for early retirement. He is doing the same thing now, where he is comfortable enough with a small salary and the promise of huge dividends right around the corner. I really hope this time his retirement plans don't hinge too much on the near future...

It was $2.25 for 85 when I filled up on Saturday. Luckily I had a lot of Smith's fuel points available to drop it to $1.95/gal. Filled my 21 gallon tank for ~$42!
