Formal wear

I almost put this in the "Pet Peeve" thread...but, if someone wanted to become a bizzillionaire, someone needs to invent an accepted formal wear for men.

I hate ties. Suit, coat, ties, buttoned up collar shirt etc. Is there anything more uncomfortable? This has been around for centuries....seriously, centuries in one form or the other.

Not really sure what it would be, but, GEEZ...you would think that someone would figure this out.

I used to hate wearing suits and ties until I got some clothes that fitted my properly. If you hate wearing a tie, odds are the neck of your shirt is too tight. Suit pants are some of the most comfortable pants I own b/c they're made from very soft and light wool. Dress shoes aren't the most comfy, but you can get some that are pretty decent.

Ties are bizarre to me. I wear one for church but they really serve no function other than to catch some food that may have fallen on your shirt. When I find myself complaining about what men have to wear I just start thinking about all the crap women wear and it makes me happy I'm a guy.

I like dressing up. One of the things I miss with my current gig, actually.

The thing I look forward to most about Sunday: putting on a tie, getting dressed up. I guess that speaks volumes about my Sundays

I've stopped wearing ties to church. It bugs my wife, but not as much as ties bug me.

We went out to dinner the other night at a place where they ask you to wear a jacket. I don't even own one so I had to borrow from a friend that was going with us. He gave it to me, so I guess I now own one jacket. It's also the nicest article of clothing in my closet now.

Oh...nice! Sorta like a geeky tron motiff and floatation device all wrapped into one. I'm diggin' it! Will just crank up "Mr. Roboto" on my iPod and start doing the robot down the hallway at church. I'm sure it'll be absorbed into the cultural norm in no time.

I think you need a polyester tie collection. And you need to wear them much shorter than is currently fashionable. Let me know if you need a start, as I still have about 50 of my favorites from my mission saved in a shoe box.
