    1991 -- Following too closely
    1992 -- 91 in a 55 (given a warning!)
    1997-- 65 in a 40
    1998-- 40 in a 25 (it was 2AM!)

Nothing since then, though I have been pulled over once since then for running a red light in New Orleans, but it was out of ignorance, and the nice cop was having a good day and she let us go.

I also got pulled over three times in 10 minutes in San José, Costa Rica in 2009 for driving in the capital on a Thursday when my plates ended in "8." I was shocked that none of them asked for a bribe, and they ALL let me go. Times have changed there.

The last ticket I got was a doozy

My son was in sixth grade and I would drive him to school every morning in my Buick Skylark. Every morning an officer parked near the crosswalk by the school. We started waving to each other every morning. This went on for months.

One day he pulls out and follows me for about a mile and then lights me up. Turns out my tags are expired. Also turns out I don't have the registration in my car and can't provide proof of insurance. I'm insured and the registration is just misplaced, but he is not amused.

Writes me up for all three. I get everything put together and go to traffic court. Behold! The justice of the peace is my old boyscout leader and home teacher. How lucky can a guy get?

He: Hey! Great to see you. How's your Mom?
Me: Great to see you too. Mom's fine. I'll pass your greeting along to her.
He: So lets see, that'll be a total of $475. Great seeing you again.
      Me: Gag

Pulled over in front of LES on University Parkway after turning left from 450 E by the MC. Who knew that was 25? I was doing 40.

I used to race though on North Canyon Road. I used to try and get it as fast as I could before shutting it down at Stadium Ave.

I think you could get your license at 14 then, and he said when he arrived to take the driving test the tester said "we don't need to do this, I've seen you driving around town for a couple of years now." I don't think the locals got speeding tickets back in his day.

Today that swollen police department (10 officers and a sheriff for a county of 4000) pretty much just exists off the local highschoolers. And woe to the poor kid who gets caught with cigs or chew. He gets a ticket and 18 months probation.

My friend's son was made to drive back to Malad from Utah State once a month for a year to give a urine sample and interview with his probation officer after getting an underage alcohol ticket at 20.5 years of age.

One speeding ticket. It was along I-15 just outside Fillmore. I deserved it, but I still think the UHP officer was extra harsh despite the fact that I praised the town's wonderboy as being my all-time favorite BYU QB.

Pretty sure I hit the over 10 threshold by the time I was 18.

One in California, one in Utah, one in Tennessee and one in Texas. I am working on getting one ticket for every state I have been licensed in. So far no Mississippi, but it is only a matter of time.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

Six in 17 years of driving. Two in California within a couple miles of each other about three years apart (right outside Mojave on highway 58 which splits off from I-15 in Barstow).

The other four in Provo -- one for running a red light (the third car in the intersection as the left turn light goes from yellow to red), one in the ridiculous speed trap that runs between the stadium and the MC, and two on 700 North. I was able to do traffic school for every Provo speeding ticket and it was mostly painless.

I found traffic school in California to be a total pain in the ass the one time I did it back in 1999. When I got the second ticket in 2002, I wasn't going to be in California long enough to get the traffic school done and was too lazy to figure out if there was an alternative method.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

On an age-weighted basis, my driving record is exemplary, averaging about 1.5 per decade. No, I haven't received a dozen tickets. And my last occurred more than 20 years ago, on a slow day for the Palo Alto PD.

Wait, so you were insured and registered, you just couldn't prove it? Why didn't you just bring those items with you to traffic court and show that they were effective as of the date of the ticket?

I had a thirty year streak going without a ticket until November of this year. I was home off my mission for about three months and a cop got me for rolling through a stop sign. This was in Rexburg and sometimes I think the cops have nothing better to do than hassle the college kids in town. The ticket I received this November was reduced with some CUF help for which I am still very very grateful.
