  • KSL roll call.

I think that KSL is one of the most powerful AM radio stations in the country. I am able to get very clear reception in Redding, California on any night without fail. We get zero reception of KSL during the day, (something to do with the ionosphere). I was also able to receive KSL very clearly at night when I was growing up in Ashland, Oregon and sometimes got a signal during the day.

So, do you get KSL's AM feed? And how far from SLC do you live? I'm curious to see what the actual range might be.

I get it in Las Vegas as soon as the sun goes down.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

We get it pretty clearly in Vegas at night.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I get it in Eugene very well, I have gotten it in Seattle driving home during hoops games before.

Why is KSL so powerful? I assume it has something to do with the Spirit.

the correct answer cannot be given without making a phallic reference, so I'll refrain.

The reason it is only clear at night is the lack of sun light interference and the ionosphere.

I caught the 2003 BYU/CSU game clear as can be (unfortunately) when I flew into Calgary, Alberta.

KSL is a clear-channel station and so has less interference at its frequency than most other stations . Most (if not all) three letter am stations were clear-channel stations, I believe, at one point and perhaps still are.

When the atmospherics where just right, back in the day I could pick it up at Ft. Campbell, Ky. That is about 90 mile nw of Nashville. I heard a couple of Jazz games that way - that also tells you how long ago it was

I'm driving overnight from Houston to Utah this weekend. I will have to check every so often to see when I pick it up. I don't believe we cam get it in Houston but I will check tonight.

I listen to the games on it in Roswell, New Mexico. It is completely clear out in the country but has some intereference in the city.
