I can say without reservation that the person is an asshole and shouldn't be welcomed at all.

That's kind of what I was getting at with my unhinged xenophobia.

We were living in Germany for the '71 game. I had grew up in Oklahoma (as much as an army brat grows up anywhere), so I was a big OU fan. Dad let me stay up way late to listen to the game. Nebraska was #1 and OU was #2. Johnny Rogers was playing for Nebraska and Greg Pruitt for OU. The Sooners could not tackle Mr Rogers that night. The game was a classic NU 35, OU 31. They finished the season #1 and #2 and for good measure Colorado was #3 that year. To my knowledge it is the only time a conference has finishe 1,2,3 in the national rankings.

I may be small, but I'm slow.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

          I miss it too.
The wishbone has come and gone, though. So too, has Nebraska-Oklahoma. There's a certain sadness that accompanies referring to the rivalry in the past tense.
          ...
Still, the memory of Nebraska-Oklahoma is as vivid as it's ever been.
          ...
So when you turn on the TV to watch some of the great college football rivalries this weekend, take a moment, and in the spirit of Thanksgiving, be thankful for them. If the ever-changing college football landscape has taught us anything, it's that some of these games might not be around forever.

Take that moment and remember Nebraska-Oklahoma, college football's greatest forgotten rivalry.
Johnny Rodgers has probably rehashed stories of the 1971 game against Oklahoma, known universally as the "Game of the Century," hundreds of times. But how he described his feelings toward the Sooners was a first-timer. It had to have been.
“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”
