  • NYC safer than SLC?

So I never really feel concerned in either place.

But if I, say, end up on the Lower East Side late one night or decide to go hit do tour of taco truck tours in Queens then I definitely am keeping my peripheral vision active, if for no other reason that there is a schizoid homeless guy every 5 blocks in those neighborhoods who might do something to you without even knowing what he's up to.

No such concern in SLC - or am I missing something? Of course when I'm in SLC I'm probably never anywhere more than 10 blocks from Temple Square which probably isn't getting me into Sketchville.

Anyway - I know nothing about what data or methodology these guys are using, I just find the claim that SLC is more dangerous than a city that has Bed-Stuy, East New York, South Jamaica and the South Bronx.... not really buying it.

Giuliani successfully kicked out a lot of undesirables with various policies and they migrated to Jersey and places in Pennsylvania like Reading and Allentown. Their crime rates have skyrocketed over the last 10 to 15 years.

I work in #45 but I assume I live in #500. Ah the beauty of a 1 hour commute.

I wonder if Compton is going to take a #8 ranking lying down.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Yeah, something seems off. West Valley safer than SL? Ogden safer than West Valley AND Salt Lake?

Source: CQ Press using reported data from the F.B.I. "Crime in the United States 2009"

*Includes murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft. A negative score (in parentheses) indicates a
composite crime number below the national rate, a positive number is above the national rate.

Apparently Inglewood is up to more good since the last time they put the rankings together. They can't be happy about being #44 either.

These rankings are going to kill the tourism industry in those parts
