I'm considering braving Black Friday for the 1st time

I'm in the market for a new cell phone and Best Buy has the 2 that I'm interested in each for $1 with a new contract. I have always stayed away from these sales, but the though of saving at least $100 has me strongly considering it. If we decide to go with the Samsung Fascinate (which I'm leaning towards right now) it will save me $250 between the 2 phones that I'm planning to buy. So does anyone know how early you really need to show up to get the doorbusters at Best Buy. Also, if you are looking at getting 2 of one of the items do you have to have 2 people present to each get a ticket when they pass them out?

I hope this is the last time in my life I'm every considering braving this madness.

I don't know, but the guy at our Best Buy said you need to camp out the night before to get any of the good Black Friday deals.

I was considering Black Friday... I have never done it before. There is an Office Depot here that often gets overlooked (or so I hear) and doesn't have much of a line. Plus, I get up early anyway, so I might as well.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I've gone every year for the last 8 years. I enjoy it.

There's a sewing machine at Walmart that my wife has her eye on. I'm scared, but I'm going to try.

Let the record reflect that I think Black Friday is the anti-Christ. If my presence is required for us to acquire two Samsung Fascinate phones, bad things will happen. Think flames coming out of ears, bloody eyeballs, head spinning backwards bad things.

The sewing machine is not a hot item. Fear not.

I always go to Home Depot. 3 years in a row I have picked up a new shop-vac for $15. Normally close to $100.

                    Then I regift them.

No need for me to participate in the Black Friday muss as all the Christmas shopping is done.

My wife was talking about skipping it this year, but the daughters somehow think it is a tradition, maybe 'cuz they've done it for the past 15 yrs or so, so she will be going. I will be sleeping in.

I don't do black Friday. Here is what I sometimes do...purchase the items you want now. On black Friday, swing by the stores at your convenience. If the item you purchased went on sale, show your receipt and most retailers will refund you the difference. If it did not go on sale, then either keep it or return it for a full refund.

I have done this at department stores and they always refund the difference. I would imagine customer friendly places like target and walmart would do this, but not sure.

Waking up at 2 am to stand in lines doesn't sound like a fun idea to me.
