Wow, this is certainly an amazing accomplishment. For some of our resident hard-core athletes, can you imagine doing something like this? Do you have the fortitude and will to see it through? I wonder if Archaea would ever give something like this a go?

That is quite an amazing feat. I have swam 2 miles and that was a long ways. I can't even think about swimming that far. I was glad to see her swimming in a protective net trailing behind a boat. Those are some shark infested waters.

How far was that? There was a guy a couple years ago who swam the Amazon. It was over three thousand miles, and he blogged his whole journey. It sounded beyond miserable. These people are nuts. No, I take that back. Archaea is nuts. These people are psychotic.

1. Do you really have to even "swim" a river? You could just hop in and you'll eventually arrive at an ocean, no? Why bother swimming?Originally posted by Babs View PostHow far was that? This still wouldn't be enough of a challenge for Arch. Arch would try doing the butterfly stroke all the way with out stopping.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI wonder if Archaea would ever give something like this a go?

Honestly I can't imagine the physical and mental toll this would take. I went three miles one time and my mind was all over the place.

Impressive feat to swim across the Atlantic.
Except that she didn't....
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

The nice thing about this update is that it makes the accomplishment much more accessible to the everyman.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostImpressive feat to swim across the Atlantic.

Well, I guess MORE accessible, although I don't see myself swimming the 250 miles she did any time soon.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThe nice thing about this update is that it makes the accomplishment much more accessible to the everyman.
I feel a little embarrassed that I didn't catch this. Being a math geek, I usually crunch the numbers on these kinds of things. I just sort of glossed over the time period in the original article.

I'm most embarassed for the inevitable slew of folks that referenced this inspiring story this past weekend at Church, using it as an example of fortitude, faith, perserverance, long-suffering, or whatever the lesson topic happened to be.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostWell, I guess MORE accessible, although I don't see myself swimming the 250 miles she did any time soon.
