good point. a lot of anti-gun folks assume that the individuals guns are meant to protect from are not always rational agents. i guess a warning shot could have been fired through the glass, but that might give a potentially armed criminal time to react less than favorably.

To clarify, if he had a weapon and was trying to gain entry, I wouldn't wait. It's if I didn't see a weapon where I hope I'd give him a couple of seconds to rethink his plans while staring down a barrel of a gun.

Here in CA, they have to be in your home and you feel your life and that of your loved ones was in mortal danger, not just on your property. Their deceased family is going to sue the shit out of you anyways, even if you are in the right.

Kern County is a bit better than the rest of the State, however. But no Castle Law.

This happened five minutes away from the house I grew up in.

There was also a fatal gang-related stabbing near my house a few months ago. Kinda crazy.

I instantly thought of the movie Law Abiding Citizen. I don't get why they have to be in your house to feel your life, or your family's lives are in danger. For crying out loud, if someone is busting the glass out of a window to get in my house I would instantly think danger. I shouldn't have to wait until they actually get in my house to feel threatened and justified to shoot.

Looks like another home invasion in Bluffdale was spoiled. The home owner hit the intruder over the head with a shovel and the intruder ran.

Today someone set fire to that same house and the cops are pretty sure it is related.

              That is scary stuff.

The lesson here is to shoot and kill the home invader as a means of home fire protection.

I thought paying tithing was my fire protection.

Can you ever have too much fire protection?
