Perhaps the lamest alumni "accomplishment" ever posted in BYU Mag

The newest issue of the always anticipated BYU Magazine arrived this week. I like to jump to the obits to see if anyone I know died about 6-9 months ago without my realizing it and I like to check out the alumni updates section to see if any of my college friends hit it big, so I'll know whom to hit up when hard times come.

There are the usual "John became a partner at..." and "Jane published a kids book..." and so forth. Then I was amazed to read this accomplishment and followed it up by crying a little inside that my alma mater would publish this and that anyone would think to do this.

1992 | Amanda Wood Belliston (BA ’92; Henry [BA ’94]; Mesa, Ariz.) choreographed a dance for a visiting teaching workshop that portrayed the impact a visiting teacher can have on sisters.

A few that were called, but have not yet served a mission. That's a pretty low accomplishment threshold as well. All they've done is sign their name on a piece of paper.

Not sure but from the sounds of it she may be getting her desired promotion to Relief Society or Young Womans Pres. Her career sounds to be on the right path!

Looks like several us jump straight to the obits. I have learned of two deaths of past acquaintances since my undergrad days.

Most of the "accomplishments" seem to be self-submitted glorified Facebook updates. Every now and then you read one that is truly impressive, but most of them are notifications of typical career advancements for people that have been out of school for 10-20 years. "So and so was just named to this committee at work" or "This guy just went in-house...he graduated law school 15 years ago."

I enjoy reading about the young entrepreneurial activity. There have been some really interesting ideas in the past. It would be nice if the mag would follow up on some of the success stories a year or two later.

I found her on facebook. She has 82 friends, and it says she likes wheat thins, nabisco 100 calorie packs, newport rhode island, the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints (big surprise), and Mass D (christian gangsta ska rap music).

We could always have a competition amongst ourselves to see who can get the lamest entry printed. Bonus points if it's worse than Sister Belliston's. We could even have catetories: funniest, lamest, most pretentious, etc. I'm thinking of submitting thesaint258 woke up this morning, thesaint258 has controlled his schizophrenia and is no longer hearing voices, and thesaint258 appeared at his first hearing.
