I'm looking at their interest rates and thinking about switching over. Or at least adding them to do the majority of my banking. Any feedback from anyone?

We did when we were in Louisiana (they bought Hibernia, so we were adopted). We did not think that their fee structure for inactive accounts was fair, and their customer service on the phone was minimum wage people who didn't care about customer service very much.Originally posted by CJF View PostI'm looking at their interest rates and thinking about switching over. Personally, I prefer small banks. I've used the same small bank for my banking needs since I was 16 years old. I love calling the phone number and having a real person pick up the phone every time. I also love that they know me, or maybe pretend to know me, when I stop by.
My bank is actually not even in my area (since I've moved) but I still use them. In fact, I bought a car two years ago and wanted to wire the money down to the dealership. I called the bank and they said I would need a form to be on file for doing wire transfers. I explained that I had to wire the money that day and couldn't obviously give them the original signatures they needed. They passed me off to one of the higher ups (chief operations officer I think) and she approved the wire on my promise to get the original signature to them the next day by FedEx. They sent the money and I sent the form. One time I opened an account at Bank of America in hopes to transfer all my banking to my local area, but it's events like the one I explained that keeps me at my small bank.
Most small banks have higher fees, but they also have free services if you sign up for their preferred checking accounts. I have a preferred checking account which has no fees as long as I keep at least $1,500 in the bank at all times. I also get a free safe deposit box, free checks, free money orders/cashiers checks and some other small perks."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
