I think a more fitting punishment would be to make the kid smoke porn and watch pot.

I think it would be important to note a.) what kind of porn? and b.) how much pot?

Not in this instance. It's probably a badge of honor to the kid.

If I ever bust my kids smoking pot, I think I'd take them to a rehab center or AA meeting so that they can understand how destructive addiction can be.

I'm a fan of creative punishments, though I'm not sure if it's particularly effective in this case.

A teacher of mine told me that when his teenage kids would fight, he'd make them walk around the block holding hands while following closely behind in the car blasting Disney tunes. That was very effective.

I haven't. I would prefer that my kids don't hate me when they grow up.

I have not made my child stand outside with a cardboard placard listing their sins. But the other night I put a Buzz Lightyear stuffed toy into time out because my 2 y/o kept getting out of bed. I thought that was a very creative punishment.

Not very creative. If you threw Buzz into the fire with your kid watching it and with you yelling 'You killed Buzz with your insubordination, you killed Buzz!' then that would be creative and helpful in the learning and developmental process.

Nope, I tried that with a mail truck toy and my foot. It traumatized the lad.

if my dad had caught me smoking pot (the porn thing probably wouldn't have been that big of a deal), i could have expected the ass beating of a life time.

As a teenager, when I would fight with my older sister, we would have to stand facing each other, hold each other's hands, and look at each other in the eyes. Then she would have to say "I love you, [my name]" and I would then have to respond "I love you, [her name]". We would then have to kiss on the lips.

Incestuous? Perhaps, but it was definitely effective.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body.
