    This is a new Lowe

LYNNWOOD, Wash. -- A man was shot in the testicles Sunday afternoon after a gun in his waistband accidentally discharged, police said.

The man was shopping at the Lowe's hardware store in Lynnwood around 12:30 p.m. when the gun went off, said Shannon Sessions with Lynnwood police.

Medics were called and the man was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, but the extent of his injuries is not known.

No one else was injured, and the man appeared to be shopping alone, Sessions said.

Sessions said it was legal for the man to be carrying the gun and it's unlikely he'll face any charges.

I believe he has suffered enough.

I was laughing when I read that line. Could you imagine shooting yourself in the package and then getting charged with a crime? Ouch!

I have been in that Lowe's a few times. Nothing that exciting has ever happened when I was there.

I always wondered where the term "he took a shot to the nuts" came from.

Poor dude, exercising his right to bear arms, blows off his nut and becomes overnight the poster-boy for gun control.

Does anyone know if concealed weapons cause more accidents like this, or prevent more robberies/assaults?

I think a tragedy of this magnitude should not be wasted on just gun control. Handled correctly he could be the poster child for, the government should control every aspect of your life. After all, you might do something stupid and suffer the consequences.

I think that something like this happened to scandell at Target once.

Actually this really depends on the state IMHO. Some states require a significant amount of finger printing, training, demonstration of gun handling and range proficiency and gun law knowledge tests before they issue a concealed handgun license. Other states simply require a little classroom instruction and maybe a test (e.g. Utah, from what I understand) or don't even require a CHL at all (e.g. Arizona). If this guy had a bullet chambered in his gun then aim at his own nuts then I don't think he was the star student of any CHL course.

I do know that little RF Jr would be better off playing at his friend's house that has a gun than his friend's house that has a pool, however.
