Also, there is no building code up here, so no inspectors, and the only permit I had to get was for a septic system. I think new homes in town cost $80-$160 if you hire a general contractor to do everything.
Boy that would be nice. Here in the people republic of south Jordan it's a different story. Ok, some building code is nice, but this city is ridiculous.

We looked at a house with a downstairs master bedroom, apparently saying during a walk thru "I don't want to hear our kinds banging, I want them to hear us banging if anything." is wrong and embarrassing.

Our master is on the main floor. Love it. Great to be separated from the kids upstairs. Also, doesn't get as hot as upstairs in the summer. Finally, we have a door that leads directly to the back patio and the smoker.

                    • 3 Utah cities among most overvalued housing markets, study says

A new study lists three Utah cities among the most overvalued housing markets in the U.S.

The study produced by professors at Florida Atlantic University and Florida International University comes as housing prices continue to skyrocket across Utah, leaving many without the means to become homeowners.

According to the study, the three Utah cities are all among the list's Top 10:

                      #3 - OGDEN
                      #5 - PROVO
                      #9 - SALT LAKE CITY'

Doesn't seem to be working in Texas.

Thats because Texas offers so much more... like reasonable income taxes.

I don't understand what they are using as their basis for their assessments. They mention low inventory and an influx of people (low supply/high demand). Seems like a pretty straightforward supply/demand phenomenon. How does that translate into people overpaying for housing? The same thing is happening in lots of place across the U.S.
                            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I'm guessing that they're comparing the home prices to the median household income.
