It seems like builders better understand the reality. Utah County appears to be quite a bit less stubborn, particularly with the huge amount of newly built supply. Builders are in the process of cleaning other home sellers' clocks.
The short term rental market is distorting the market in Washington county. Not sure it is propped up to the extent these owners want it to be.

    • I'm retiring the end of March and we are getting out of Rexburg. So a week ago I told our neighbors we were moving, Sunday they tell us they have some friends interested in looking at the house and would it be okay if they came by. Monday we show the house, Tuesday he comes by again with a friend and his father, Wednesday we receive an offer, what we were asking, and today the paperwork is done. I have a friend who is a realtor who is helping us with the paperwork and all he wants is to put his sign out front with a SOLD sign on it for advertisement. It went so much easier and quicker than I ever hoped for.

        Wow. That is great.

        Where are you headed?

        And congrats on the retirement!

Wow. Congrats on the quick sale and the retirement!

This may sound crazy but we are moving to Pocatello and I'm very excited about it. We have bought a nice house overlooking the valley, it's closer to our grandkids, it keeps us in touch with my family in Rexburg, it's a wonderful area to bike in and it's just three minutes away from the golf course.

Growing up in Eastern Idaho Pocatello was probably the last place I thought about moving to but every year my buddies and myself go down and ride our bikes in the area, downtown deserves it's reputation but get on the hill by the temple and the south side is really nice and tons of outdoor opportunities. When we visit my son in Saratoga Springs I just couldn't ever see myself moving down there, it's a mess.

Doesn't sound crazy at all. Grandkids are the best.

This is like saying Dallas is cooler than Houston…

                          Congrats on retirement RCV!

I would bet good money that this is the first time in the history of the internet anyone has ever equated Rexburg/Pocatello to Houston/Dallas.

                              Maybe an SAT question?

Pocatello is to Rexburg as Dallas is to

                              d. Houston

                              • Congrats on the retirement and the no stress selling of your place. We are planning on putting our place on the market in April. I wake up on the middle of the night often stressing about it.

I've tried to talk my BIL in California into looking at Pocatello for years. Close enough to SLCo without the ability to drop by unannounced often. But now I think Pocatello may be to close to us.
