  • I just had a conversation with my business partner.

He went to a lunch meeting where a PsyD. talked about personality stuff in the legal context.

One of the things he said made me think of CB. This guy said you have to really watch out for the people who only see things in black and white. They're the ones who tend to be Borderline Personality, and susceptible to all kinds of psychoses.
If we disagree on something, it's because you're wrong.

Probably so. If you see everything as black and white then you probably see yourself as always being white which then results in you trying to go the extra mile to make sure you remain white which progressively distances yourself from what you view as black which then in turn fuels the "me against the world" mentality.

      Or something like that.

Funny thing, most of CUFers see things in black and white too based on most of the threads I see on this board.

You're pretty astute for an actuary.

Since actuaries deal with stochastic modeling, confidence intervals and so forth, there isn't a whole lot that is black and white in their professional world.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
