    I love Asian food.

So far I'm averaging pho about three times a week for lunch. Last night I had great Thai for dinner. The night before solid Chinese. The day before that I had really good shabu shabu. Tonight for dinner......awesome Korean. Kimchi, gaji namul, steamed dumplings, steamed rice and bulgogi. Not one of those meals was over $10 and every one of them was very good. Heck, the pho is about $2. I'm almost in heaven. Throw in a decent Mexican option and I would never want to move back.

Good catch. Filipino food blows. Think about it. How many different Filipino restaurants are there in your town? How many different Chinese, Thai, Korean, Japanese places are there? For the most part the only people that eat Filipino food are Filipinos.

That said, the fruit that grows here is incredible and helps make up for the horrible mistakes that come out of the kitchen.

I'm getting tired of Asian food. I'm ready to be done with it for good.

I believe I could live indefinitely on nothing but Asian food. I've never experienced Filipino food. What I miss is Indonesian food. We used to have that all the time when we lived in Holland. I've never been able to find an Indonesian restaurant in the US.

There's a good filipino restaurant in Canoga Park.

I love filipino food. Growing up there was an inactive filipino family in our ward. Once a year, for their only son's birthday, the family would have a huge party with all the food: pigs knuckles, fermented chick fetus, as well as all the more acceptable stuff like lumpia, noodles and pork adobo. They would do it on Sunday. The father would call the Bishop and swear to him that he would never come back to church if the ward didn't show up and eat the food he had prepared. The bishop would call around and ask people if they'd like to go to this family's house to eat, as a service project. You never had to ask me twice. yum.

To add a bit of context, this family lived next to Liliokalani Church in Haleiwa, across from Matsumoto Shave Ice. Go down that lane and ask for the Tayabas.

CJF speaks the truth. Filipino food sucks. I've posted my rankings of Asian food several times but I'll go ahead and post it one more time:

                  1. Vietnamese - there is no other contender. A coastal cuisine with French and Chinese influences make Vietnamese the best food in the world from a spice and variety/fusion standpoint.
                  2. Thai - This includes Cambodia and Laos as their cuisines aren't really distinct enough to merit separate consideration.
                  3. Indian (I guess some people don't consider it Asian per se)
                  4. Korean
                  5. Japanese - Sushi pushes it up this high. For me, Japanese entrees generally underwhelm.
                  6. Chinese - In reality there is no such thing because China is so stinking big it's really just a bunch of regional cuisines that are fairly distinct. I don't think I've ever eaten in Taiwan/China what most Americans consider to be Chinese food. I'm not expert enough on all the regional cuisines to split them out in the rankings so I'll just lump it all together.
                  7. Philippines - I love the Philippines. Served my mission there. Love the people, wouldn't mind living there at all. But their food sucks. Plain and simple.

Too funny. I hope you're not offended by my opinion but, in my opinion, one of the few cuisines that sucks worse than Filipino is the cuisine of the South Pacific.

Move Vietnamese under Indian (with Thai No. 1 and Indian No. 2 and you've got my list.)
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

These lists are tough to call, but I might side with BFM here. Good Vietnamese is wonderful.

This is pretty accurate for me also. Indian food makes my stomach do funny things, so I'm miserable when I'm in India. It tastes good, but makes me sick, so I would move that down the list. Other than that, I completely agree.
